National Eisteddfod 2026 — Eisteddfod y Garreg Las

The National Eisteddfod of Wales — Eisteddfod y Garreg Las — comes to Llantood in Pembrokeshire from 1 to 8 August 2026. This year’s festival carries particular significance: it marks 850 years since the very first Eisteddfod, making it one of the most celebrated editions in the competition’s long history.

The largest touring festival in Europe, the National Eisteddfod draws together poets, musicians, singers, dancers, authors and artists from across Wales and beyond. Competitions run throughout the week in Welsh — the Chairing and Crowning of the Bard are the two most prestigious ceremonies — but there is plenty for non-Welsh speakers to enjoy, including concerts, performances, craft stalls, food traders and a lively programme of events for children and families.

The Maes (festival field) is a temporary tented village that springs up at a different location each year, alternating between north and south Wales. The 2026 site at Llantood is set in the north Pembrokeshire countryside, close to the Teifi gorge and the Pembrokeshire–Ceredigion border.

The nearest market town is Cardigan (Aberteifi), around five miles from the Maes, with a good range of accommodation including B&Bs, guesthouses, and self-catering cottages. The wider Pembrokeshire coast is within easy reach for those wanting to combine the Eisteddfod with a seaside break.
