Royal Welsh Show 2026

The Royal Welsh Show returns to Builth Wells from 20 to 23 July 2026 — four days of agriculture, livestock, horsemanship and rural craftsmanship at the Royal Welsh Showground in Llanelwedd. One of the largest agricultural shows in the world, it draws around 240,000 visitors each year and is rightly regarded as the heartbeat of Welsh farming life.

First held in 1904, the Show has taken place every year since — moving to its permanent home on the banks of the Wye at Llanelwedd in 1963. Today it sprawls across 300 acres and features more than 7,000 animal entries across cattle, sheep, pigs, horses and working sheepdogs. The Grand Ring programme alone fills all four days, with parading livestock, international showjumping, military displays and the famous Welsh Pony and Cob parade among the highlights.

Beyond the show rings, there are hundreds of trade stands, a food hall packed with Welsh produce, forestry demonstrations, rural crafts, horticulture, and a packed programme of music and entertainment. For children, there are dedicated activities and education zones that bring the story of Welsh farming to life.

Builth Wells itself is a pleasant market town in the Wye Valley, and the surrounding area has a good range of accommodation. Given the show’s scale, accommodation within 20 miles of Builth Wells books out months in advance — towns like Llandrindod Wells, Brecon and Rhayader are popular bases.
