A Dog-Friendly Log Lodge near Monmouth in the Wye Valley

The Garden House is a characterful detached log lodge set in beautiful, leafy grounds at The Narth, near Monmouth, in the heart of the Wye Valley. Sleeping up to four and dog-friendly, this single-storey lodge sits in around three-quarters of an acre of natural grounds, with a large lawned garden, a summerhouse and country walks straight from the door — including a path down to the River Wye. With its own veranda and a relaxed, homely feel, it makes a lovely, peaceful base for a family or two couples exploring this glorious border country.

Comfortable, Single-Storey Living

Arranged all on one level, the lodge has a warm, welcoming feel, with painted timber walls and big windows framing the surrounding greenery. The living room has comfortable seating, a 21-inch Freeview TV and a single sofa bed, and opens onto a covered veranda overlooking the garden. The kitchen/dining room is well equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, plus a dining table for relaxed family meals. Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included, and a welcome pack is provided on arrival.

Two Bedrooms, Plus a Sofa Bed

There are two bedrooms: a double (with a 4ft 6in bed) and a single, both freshly decorated with leafy garden views. A single sofa bed in the living room means the lodge sleeps up to four in total, making the layout well suited to a small family. The bathroom is a practical ground-floor wet room with a shower cubicle, basin and toilet.

Veranda, Gardens and Setting

Outside, the lodge has its own covered veranda and a patio with a sitting-out area and garden furniture — a lovely spot for morning coffee or an evening drink. Beyond it lies a large lawned garden with a summerhouse and a barbecue (shared with the one neighbouring lodge and the owner’s home), all set within around three-quarters of an acre of natural, unspoilt grounds. The summerhouse is a lovely place to sit and watch the sun go down. There is private parking for two cars, and the lodge is no-smoking throughout. Up to two dogs stay free.
