Newtown Food Festival 2026

Newtown Food Festival returns to the Textile Museum in the heart of Newtown, Powys, on 5 and 6 September 2026. Now in its 11th year, it has established itself as one of Mid Wales’s best-loved food events — a two-day celebration of Welsh produce, local food businesses, and the region’s agricultural heritage, held in one of the most distinctive industrial heritage buildings in Wales.

The festival brings together producers from across Powys and Mid Wales, with stalls selling artisan cheese, bread, preserves, honey, meat and seasonal vegetables alongside local craft drinks including ales, gins and ciders. Cooking demonstrations and chef talks run throughout both days, and the event has a community feel that reflects Newtown’s character as a working market town.

Newtown (Y Drenewydd in Welsh) sits on the River Severn in the heart of the Montgomeryshire plains, surrounded by some of the most productive agricultural land in Wales. It is the birthplace of Robert Owen, the social reformer and pioneer of the co-operative movement, and the town’s connections to both the Welsh textile industry and social history make it an interesting place to explore.

Newtown is well placed for exploring central Wales, with Llanidloes, Machynlleth and the Cambrian Mountains all within easy reach. Accommodation is available in the town and in the surrounding countryside, with a range of B&Bs, guesthouses and self-catering options in the area.
