Llandrindod Wells Victorian Festival 2026

Llandrindod Wells steps back in time from 24 to 30 August 2026 for the Victorian Festival — a week-long celebration of the town’s remarkable heritage as a Victorian spa resort. The festival transforms the entire town centre, with thousands of residents and visitors dressing in period costume, and the streets filled with Victorian-era entertainers, market stalls, music and dramatic performances.

At its peak in the late 19th century, Llandrindod Wells was one of Britain’s premier spa destinations, drawing visitors from across the country to take its mineral waters. The town’s grand hotels, parks and Victorian architecture survive remarkably intact — and for one week each August, it comes alive again as if the intervening century never happened.

The festival programme includes open-air concerts, theatrical performances, a Victorian fair, horse-drawn vehicle parades, historical talks and guided walks, and the ever-popular Victorian characters who roam the town throughout the week. Dressing up is very much encouraged — period costume hire is available locally, and whole families throw themselves into the spirit of the thing.

Llandrindod Wells is at the heart of mid Wales, surrounded by rolling hills and just a short drive from the Elan Valley and the Cambrian Mountains. The town has a good range of hotels, guesthouses and B&Bs, many of them housed in the original Victorian buildings — an atmospheric way to experience the festival weekend.
