Llanrwst is a historic market town on the banks of the River Conwy. A famous stone bridge crosses the water toward an old ivy-clad cottage. This building is a lovely spot for a traditional cream tea. My top tip is to visit the Gwydir Chapel. You can see the heavy stone coffin of a Welsh prince for free. The deep Gwydir Forest rises behind the town. Trails lead past tall pine trees and hidden waterfalls. The air smells of fresh river water and damp earth. Local shops sell honey and bread from the valley. Life here follows the flow of the river under the mountain peaks. It is a quiet spot for a day trip with dogs welcome on the forest paths.
