Y Seler Aberaeron: a restaurant with rooms on Market Street

Y Seler is a restaurant with rooms at 7 Market Street in Aberaeron. A December 2024 report in Business News Wales says it has nine bedrooms and a five-star Restaurant with Rooms rating from Visit Wales. Booking.com adds a terrace, a restaurant and a bar. Our Aberaeron guide covers the town and the coast.

The rooms

Y Seler Aberaeron has Standard King Rooms, Deluxe King Rooms and Superior King Rooms. Booking.com says every room has air conditioning, a private bathroom, a TV, a wardrobe, parquet floors and a tea and coffee station with a coffee machine. The photos show dark panelled walls, gold wall lamps and marble-look bathrooms.

Guests on Booking.com score the location 9.7 out of 10, the comfort 9.7, the cleanliness 9.6, the staff 9.5 and the value 8.8. The overall score is 9.3 from 409 reviews. Couples rate the location 9.6 for a two-person trip.

Children of any age are welcome, and children of 3 and over are charged as adults. A cot is free, but there are no extra beds. Pets are not allowed. Booking.com lists bicycle parking.

Eating and drinking

The restaurant serves British dishes with local ingredients, and has vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options. Breakfast is continental, a la carte, a full English or Irish, and pastries. The bar has a long counter, and there is a lounge with an open fire and a terrace above the street with a view over the painted houses of Aberaeron, as the photos show.

Facilities

Booking.com lists a safe, a radio, satellite channels, a phone, heating, ironing facilities and a hairdryer, and says WiFi is free in public areas. Upper floors are reached by stairs only, so ask the hotel if that matters to you. Booking.com says there is no parking, so ask the hotel where to leave a car. Y Seler also appears in the Visit Wales listings as a Restaurant with Rooms.

What it costs

Rooms start from about £139 a night. That is based on a Standard King Room for two adults with breakfast included, at £278 for two nights in March 2027, with free cancellation. The Deluxe King was £298. Check your own dates on Booking.com, where Y Seler scores 9.3 from 409 reviews.

Aberaeron from the door

Market Street is in the centre of Aberaeron, and Booking.com says the town centre is about 50 yards away. The listing puts Aberystwyth Castle and Aberystwyth University about 26 to 27 km away, and Clarach Bay about 27 km.

The look of the place

The style is dark and warm: panelled walls, gold lamps, a black and white chequered floor in the bar and an open fire in the lounge. The photos also show cocktails at the bar, a seared fish course, a dessert with sorbet and a plate of prawns, so the restaurant is clearly part of the draw.

Who Y Seler suits

Y Seler Aberaeron suits couples who want a good dinner and a stylish room in the middle of the town. Booking.com says there is no parking, so plan where to leave the car.
