Falcondale Hotel Lampeter: a country house in 14 acres
The Falcondale is a white country house hotel on Falcondale Drive, about a mile from the university and market town of Lampeter in Ceredigion. Booking.com says it stands in 14 acres of wooded grounds and gardens. The Cambrian Mountains and the coastal villages of Cardigan Bay are each about a 30-minute drive away. The rooms
Falcondale Hotel Lampeter has a long list of room types on Booking.com. They include Standard Double Rooms, a Double Room with Four Poster Bed, Double or Twin Rooms, Large Double Rooms and family rooms. Many have a garden view, and the largest listed rooms run to 25 square metres. Every room has a private bathroom, a kettle and tea and coffee things, and a hairdryer. Some rooms have a bath, and some have a four-poster bed.
The photos show warm, traditional rooms with patterned wallpaper, a four-poster bed, tall windows, desks and armchairs. Several bathrooms have a bath with a shower over it. One photo shows a window looking over farmland.
The restaurant and the lounges
Booking.com says the hotel has a restaurant with two AA Rosettes. The photos show a deep blue dining room, a green drawing room with a chandelier, and a bar lounge with leather chairs, a stove and a log fire. In summer, the hotel says you can have a glass of wine on the terrace. Breakfast is continental or full English, and guests rate it as fabulous.

Around the Falcondale
Lampeter is about a mile away, and Booking.com lists the Royal Oak and the Town Hall Cafe there. The hotel says Aberaeron harbour is 19 kilometres off, and that three National Trust properties lie within 12 miles. Booking.com also lists wheelchair access and a toilet with grab rails, and the hotel has electric car charging. The terrace and the garden have outdoor furniture, and the hotel offers room service.
Who the Falcondale suits
Falcondale Hotel Lampeter suits couples, walkers, dog owners and anyone who wants a country house stay with dinner downstairs. Dogs are welcome in all bedrooms for an extra £15 a night, payable to the hotel, so say so when you book. The hotel provides a pet basket and bowls. There is free private parking on site, and electric car charging. Children of any age are welcome, and children aged 13 and over are charged as adults.
