A Hilltop Glamping Pod with a Hot Tub near Llandovery

Mountain View is a beautifully made timber glamping pod set high on a working farm above the village of Cilycwm, a few miles from the market town of Llandovery and right on the edge of the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog). Sleeping up to four, with a private hot tub on the deck and sweeping views over the Towy Valley, it is a peaceful spot to slow right down. There is no Wi-Fi here — just the hills, the hot tub and the sound of the farm — making it a genuine digital detox for a couple or a small family.

Open-Plan, Pod-Style Living

Inside the curved, pine-clad pod is a bright open-plan living, dining and kitchen space, with a comfortable sofa, a dining table and bi-fold doors that open straight onto the deck and the view. The kitchenette is well equipped for self-catering, with a hob, a sink and the essentials for preparing a meal, and electric heating keeps everything warm whatever the weather. With no Wi-Fi and no distractions, it is somewhere to read, play cards and actually unwind.

Sleeping and Bathroom

There is one double bedroom, snug beneath the pod’s curved pine ceiling, and a double sofa bed in the living area, so the pod sleeps up to four in all. The modern shower room has a walk-in shower, a basin and a WC. Everything is on one level with level access, which makes getting around easy.

Hot Tub, Deck and Views

The real treat is outside. The private hot tub sits on the deck looking out over the rolling fields and the hills of the Brecon Beacons beyond — a wonderful place to soak with a glass of something as the light changes over the valley. There are picnic benches for eating out, a barbecue for sunny evenings, and the whole spot enjoys that big, open Towy Valley outlook. Being on a working farm, you may well share the view with the cattle grazing in the field below.

Cilycwm, Llandovery and the Towy Valley

The pod sits in a glorious position in the upper Towy Valley, in red-kite country on the north-western edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The pretty village of Cilycwm is just below, and the historic market town of Llandovery — with its shops, pubs, cafes and the remains of Llandovery Castle — is a short drive away. To the north, the road climbs towards the dramatic Llyn Brianne reservoir and dam, set deep in the Cambrian Mountains, while walkers have miles of quiet hills and farmland tracks right on the doorstep.

Exploring Further Afield

There is plenty more to discover. The National Trust’s Dolaucothi Gold Mines, near Pumsaint, let you try your hand at panning where the Romans once mined for gold. The wider Brecon Beacons offer some of the best walking in Wales, and the market towns of Llandeilo and Carmarthen, with the gardens of the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Aberglasney along the way, are all within reach for a day out.
