Highfield Lodge at Bracken Hill

Highfield Lodge - Monmouth's Luxurious and Pet-Friendly Holiday Cottage
Located just outside of Monmouth, Highfield Lodge is a luxuriously spacious holiday home that boasts stunning scenic views of the Wye valley and is a short distance away from the Forest of Dean, the Black Mountains, and the ruins of Tintern Abbey. Complete with its own garden, this rural holiday home offers the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sun on warm sunny days. The garden also makes a great playground for children, and our croquet lawn and fenced paddock make perfect places to let off steam. Children will enjoy feeding our very tame pygmy goats and koi carp. If you're feeling competitive you'll find everything you need for a week-long championship challenge at croquet or badminton, and if your children bring their own bicycles they are welcome to ride around our 6-acre grounds. A sheltered courtyard houses a barbecue where you can cook your own meals as you enjoy the stunning views.
Whether you are travelling as a large family or as a small group, this is the perfect place to stay. The cottage is situated near the owner's home and is a short distance away from the major attractions in Monmouth including the Nelson Museum, Raglan and Goodrich Castles, RSPB Symonds Yat and floral Usk. Activities nearby that you can indulge in during your stay include fishing, canoeing, cycling, riding and world class golfing. The town also has a cinema, theatre, and an indoor swimming pool where you can while your time away. For shopping and eating, visit any of the many restaurants and shops available in Monmouth or Ross-on-Wye or venture into the local countryside to find delightful village pubs.
You will find everything you need for your first day in our kitchen, from washing-up liquid and washing powder to a welcome pack that includes salt, pepper, sugar, tea, coffee (the real stuff!) and milk.
Accommodation:
This wonderful pet-friendly holiday cottage near Monmouth in rural Wales is all on the ground floor (but there is a low step between the entrance/dining room and the sitting room). It consists of two double bedrooms and two interconnected single bedrooms. The largest double bedroom boasts a flat-screen TV and a double futon for your extra guests or children (maximum of 8 overnight guests allowed), and there's plenty of room for everyone in our huge kitchen with a farmhouse-style table and 8 chairs, a separate dining room/entrance hall with a smaller table that seats 4 and a two-seater sofa, plus a large sitting-room with a second double sofa-bed, TV, DVD player and a selection of family games and books. Guests share one large family bathroom with an over-bath shower and a corner bath and a second shower room with shower, basin & loo which can be used as a private ensuite for the largest bedroom.
Free Wi-Fi access is available; smartphone internet access in the cottage is of variable quality, as is mobile reception (depending on supplier & the weather!), and there are areas on the property that have excellent reception for both 3G internet and mobile telephone.
All electricity and oil central heating/hot water charges are included. Dogs are charged at £5 per dog per night, and we accept up to three well-behaved pooches (they must not be allowed to chase the livestock in our fields or on neighbouring properties). For shorter/longer stays or if there are only 2 people in your party, please contact us for special pricing.
We are happy to offer breakfast and/or a two- or three-course dinner by prior arrangement for those days when you're out & about until late in the day & would rather not have the bother of cooking! (We're also used to catering for a wide range of food intolerances, including gluten- and dairy-free.)
