Brick House Bed and Breakfast Newport has a long and interesting history. The earliest Newport church records show that there has been a house on this site since 1450, it was then called White House Farm. Parts of the original house still show but the main Georgian facade was built around 1795.

The B&B accommodation was then owned by William Phillips a member of Parliament and prominent landowner.he also built Whitson Court in a nearby village and it was whilst building Whitson Court that he built Brick House for his son, also named William, for his return from the American colonies. However, his son never returned as the ship carrying him home was wrecked in a storm and William was drowned.

Brick house remained in the Phillips family until 1901 when it was sold to Sir William James Thomas a coal mine owner from Cardiff and it became part of his vast estate. The present owners, Mr & Mrs. Charles Park first became tenants of the farm in 1947 and eventually purchased the property in 1972 from executors of Sir William James Thomas.

Brick House first became a guest house in 1974 when Mrs. Park offered three rooms to paying guests. Since then the rest of the rooms have been upgraded with en-suite bathrooms and all modern facilities including tea and coffee trays, flatscreen tv and hairdryers in every room.

Brick House is ideally located at the edge of the peaceful village of Redwick yet just three miles from J23A of the M4 motorway and within easy reach of Bristol, Newport, and Cardiff. There are many interesting tourist sites within the area including Tintern Abbey in the beautiful Wye Valley, the Welsh folk museum at St Fagans and the market towns of Monmouth and Abergavenny.
