Overton is a secluded hamlet perched on the limestone heights of the south Gower peninsula. It overlooks the wild Atlantic at Port Eynon Point. My top tip is to hike the cliff path toward Culver Hole. This strange masonry wall was built into a sea cave centuries ago. You can explore the narrow trails and watch the waves crash against the rocks for free. The atmosphere carries the scent of salt and wild sea pinks. Rare red-beaked choughs nest in the crags above the shore. Life here is slow and follows the flight of the birds along the coast. Local farm stalls sell fresh eggs and seasonal produce. It is a perfect spot for a break on the Gower Way.
