Hay-on-Wye is a real find for book lovers on the Welsh border. My top tip is the castle in the town centre. It was built long ago with big stone walls. You can find many shops here that sell old books. This town is a prime choice for a low cost day out. Walk down to the River Wye to see the clear water. The air is fresh and the hills are very green. To find the best views, head for the Black Mountains just to the south. You can walk the paths for free. Life is slow and the streets are narrow. It is a true gem with a warm heart. This is real Wales.
