Denbigh is a real gem in the Vale of Clwyd. My top tip is the castle. It sits on a high hill and has very big stone walls. You can walk the town walls for free. They are very long and give grand views of the green hills. The town has a neat high street with local shops. Look for the tower of St Hilary near the gate. It is all that is left of an old chapel. You can also see the shell of St David’s Church. It was never finished long ago. The air is fresh and the streets have a true Welsh feel. This is a fine spot for a low cost break with deep history.
