Benllech sits on the eastern coast of Anglesey, where a long sweep of golden sand meets the clear blue of the Irish Sea. Known as Traeth Benllech, this award-winning beach is famous for its safe bathing and deep rock pools. At low tide, the shore stretches for miles, linking the village to the wide sands of Red Wharf Bay. My top tip is to follow the Anglesey Coastal Path north toward Moelfre to spot porpoises off the limestone headlands. The town has a rich history; in 1945, the remains of a Viking woman were found buried right in the beach sand. Local cafes sell fresh crab sandwiches near the busy promenade. Life here moves with the tide and the salt air blowing over the cliffs. It is a brilliant spot for a family holiday on the island.
