The Grapes Hotel

Maentwrog, Snowdonia LL414HN

The 'Grapes Hotel at Maentwrog' is a 17th century 'Coaching Inn', although an ancient cellar dates back to the 13th Century. This Grade II Listed Building is set in the picturesque village of Maentwrog in North Wales, which nestles in the beautiful Vale of Ffestiniog, the heart of the Snowdonia National Park.

The Grapes' is chronicled in George Burrow's book 'Wild Wales', where he entered.."A magnificent parlour and partook of brandy and water". Possibly the same parlour regularly visited by the great statesman Lloyd George, and where Lilley Langtry took tea - on separate occasions we believe!

It is believed that 'The Grapes' has ghosts... sometimes a little old lady in Victorian clothing is said to appear below the stairs... just long enough to frighten the kitchen staff plumb rigid!
