Visit Wales is celebrating a year of discovery 2019 and this area has plenty to discover and our bed and breakfast is close to Fairbourne Beach and opposite Barmouth where you can discover the wonderful coastline of Cardigan Bay and also enjoy the proximity of Snowdonia National Park and plenty of walks and steam trains too.

Einion House Bed and Breakfast lies on the foothills of Cader Idris and is situated 5 minutes walk from Friog Beach on Cardigan Bay, in Fairbourne. Einion House B&B is 10-12 minutes walk from Fairbourne village and Fairbourne Railway station where you can take the train to Barmouth, or south to Tywyn or Aberdovey. Alternativey drive or take the bus to Dolgellau, Tywyn, Aberdovey or Machynlleth.

Fairbourne amenities include Penhryn Bar and Grill, Cafe Indiana, and Fairbourne Fish and Chip Shop with a seating area inside. Fairbourne also has a laundrette, a post office and delicatessen and two independent shops.

Einion House is located near the Mawddach Trail and estuary, featured in BBCs and Julia Bradbury's railway walks, and is opposite Barmouth and 8 miles from Dolgellau and Tywyn and we also are not too far from Aberdovey. We are located near some great walks, cycling routes and scenery as well as within reasonable driving distance of a choice of Steam railways, including Fairbourne, Tal-y-Llyn, Bala Lake, Welsh Highland / Blaenau Ffestiniog stream railway.

We are also 5 minutes drive from Arthog and Llwyngwril, and the walks near them.

If you are a Steam Train enthusiast, Fairbourne steam railway is also in Fairbourne. There are also many steam railways near us including Talyllyn Railway, Bala Lake Railway, Welsh Highland Railway, Welshpool and Llanfair Railway, Vale of Rheidol Railway or simply take the mainline railway along the coast from Fairbourne.

The Fairbourne railway is a great ride for both adults and children and get a day ticket and ride all day. You can catch the passenger ferry to Barmouth from the point, which is a small hop to Barmouth, and catch it back and then get the Fairbourne Railway back to Fairbourne. No need to take the car. The Talyllyn Railway is the first preservation railway in the UK and also where the writer of Thomas the Tank engine, Thomas Rolf, also volunteered. We are also one and half hours drive from Llanberis where you can catch the Snowdon Mountain Railway to the summit of Mount Snowdon or walk it to the top. There are three main paths to the top of Snowdon starting from different locations around Snowdon.

There are some very enjoyable walks from Einion House

Walk from Einion House B&B to the Blue Lake (also know as the blue lagoon), featured on the BBCs Secret Britian, which is an average half an hours walk to get to. Take the bus to Dolgellau a historic market town and walk the Mawddach Trail back to Einion House (as shown on BBC's Julia Bradbury's "Railway walks"). We are also five minutes walk to a Marine Conservation Society recommended beach in Fairbourne. Follow the beach to the Fairbourne golf course and walk along the dyke across Barmouth bridge into Barmouth or just carry on along Penryn Drive North until you reach The Point directly opposite Barmouth and catch the passenger ferry to Barmounth.

If you feel more adventurerous why not walk up Cader Idris, by taking the Pony Path near Dolgellau or the Minfordd Path near Tal-y-llyn (weather permitting) or some of the longer walks like the Wales Coastal Path. The Wales coastal path goes past Einion House and up to the Blue Lake towards Llwyngwril. There are also smaller well know walks which many guests like to do including the Precipice Walk near Dolgellau and Panorama Walk near Barmouth

You can also cycle the Mawddach Trail or cycle into Barmouth from Einion House B and B. We are also not far from the Sus Trans cycle route 8 and 82, and Coed y Brenin Forest Park and mountain biking centre.

If you like pony trekking we are 4 minutes drive from Bwlchgwyn Farm pony trekking centre - popular for it beach trek.

There are also many historic castles (including ruins near us) Harlech Castle, Cymer Abbey and Castel y Bere and Powys Castle

Alternatively just escape, unwind, lap up the scenery, drive and discover, it is a great place to just do what you want or nothing at all and let time go by, and escape the rush of city life.
