Gwerniago campsite is located near Machynlleth in the beautiful Dyfi Valley the southern part of The Snowdonia National Park and the heartland of rural Wales. It is an ideal base for enjoying golden beaches, mountains and the countryside. Within walking distance of the Welsh Coastal Path and public transport.
Pitches with or without electricity are available. Grass pitches without electricity are not allocated, customers can chose their own spot. Campfires are allowed, if possible please bring your own fire basket . Parking is next to your unit.
The modern toilet and shower block consists of seperate toilets and shower rooms, disabled room and a family room with a sit in bath for the younger children. Showers are free and hot water for washing dishes is available. A fridge and freezer is provided for the convenience of our customers. Static caravan available for holiday let. Seasonal pitches also available. Free wifi on site.
Gwerniago is a working farm run by a Welsh speaking family. The campsite is situated just outside the village of Pennal .
The area around the farm is ideally suited for bird watching and walking. Some of our regular visitors are the Red Kite. The camspite is a ten minute drive from the Dyfi Osprey Project and with a good pair of binoculars it is possible to view the Dyfi Ospreys nest from the campsite. A 20 minute drive from the campsite visitors can visit the RSPB site at Ynyshir, feature of the BBC springwatch programme.Regular visitors have stated that several birds seen at the RSPB can be spoted around the campsite area e g yellowhammers. The campsite is popular with single persons, couples and families, walkers and cyclists; the site offers stuning elevated views over the Dyfi Valley, woodlands, and riverside walks. within walking distance to Pennal and the Riverside/Glanyrafon Hotel.
If you are familiar with the Cool Camping series of books the campsite was voted in the top 5 campsite in the U K by the kids in the kids edition of the book.
There are several sporting activities within easy reach of the campsite including sea or fresh water fishing, clay pigeon shooting, mountain bike Centre, boarding centre, kite surfing hire and tuition, swimming pool and leisure centre. Cader Idris, Mach Loop and Dyfi mountain biking are within a205mins drive from the campsite.
The local area also caters for less energetic activities with its miles of golden beaches, historical attractions, country walks and endless supplies of peace and quiet.
The farm is situated 3 miles from Machynlleth, an historic market town; where the mountain biking routes of Mach1, 2 &3 are situated.
Aberdyfi renowned for its famous golf course, harbour and beaches is 15 minutes drive away. Pennal village is within easy walking distance, the village offers a pub and Post Office (Tus and Weds).
The Centre of Alternative Technology is 4 miles away, Corris Craft Centre and King Arthur's Labyrinth 7 miles.
Talyllyn Railway is a 20 minute drive towards Tywyn and Cader Idris mountain a 20 minute drive towards Dolgellau.
One of the viewing points of the Mach Loop at Tal y Llyn is a 20 min. drive from the campsite.
Situated 3 miles from Machynlleth on the Aberdyfi/Aberdovey (coast) road, the A493. If travelling from Birmingham, Shrewsbury, Welshpool, Newtown turn right by the clock at Machynlleth then turn immediately left after going over Dyfi(Dovey) Bridge, follow the road for 2 miles, turn left by the camping sign and then the first right onto the farm entrance. All enquires and booking in at the farmhouse.
The campsite is open from 1st March to 31st October
