A spacious seven-bedroom house for fifteen near Llanelli, with a hot tub and games room

Ty-Gan Dderwen is a large, well-appointed detached house set in its own grounds on the edge of Llanelli, in the green countryside just back from the Carmarthenshire coast. Built and furnished for big get-togethers, it offers a genuinely generous amount of space — seven bedrooms, two separate sitting rooms, a huge dining room, a games room and a conservatory — plus a private hot tub on the enclosed rear patio. For a large family celebration, a milestone birthday or two or three households holidaying together, few places in the area give you this much room under one roof, so close to the beaches and attractions of the coast.

Sleeping up to fifteen guests, and welcoming two well-behaved dogs, it is purpose-built for the sort of holiday where the whole extended family wants to be together but still needs space to spread out.

Inside the house

The ground floor is arranged around sociable living space: two comfortable sitting rooms with leather sofas and smart TVs, a bright conservatory, and a large dining room where the whole party can gather around a long oak table. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking on a grand scale, with an electric oven and gas hob, a central island, breakfast bar, wine chiller and plenty of storage, and there is a separate utility room with washing machines to keep on top of things.

The seven bedrooms are cleverly arranged for a big group: a ground-floor double, two doubles with en-suites, two more doubles upstairs, a family room with a king-size and two singles, and a further single — served by a family bathroom, two shower rooms and a cloakroom. There is even a dedicated games room for downtime. Bed linen, towels, WiFi and heating are all included.

The Carmarthenshire coast on your doorstep

Llanelli has quietly become one of South Wales’s most enjoyable coastal bases. The Millennium Coastal Park runs for miles along the Loughor estuary, with a level cycling and walking path, and just along the coast at Pembrey you will find Cefn Sidan — an eight-mile stretch of golden Blue Flag sand — backed by Pembrey Country Park with its forest trails, dry ski slope and toboggan run. Wildlife lovers can visit the WWT National Wetland Centre on the edge of town, while golfers have the acclaimed Machynys championship links close by.

There is plenty more within easy reach: the medieval Kidwelly Castle, the market town of Carmarthen, and, just across the estuary, the beaches and cliffs of the Gower Peninsula — Britain’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Rugby fans can catch the Scarlets at nearby Parc y Scarlets. With the M4 close at hand, it is also an easy base for exploring further into Pembrokeshire or the Brecon Beacons. Good to know

With parking for five cars and a genuinely large amount of indoor and outdoor space, Ty-Gan Dderwen is well set up for a big group arriving together. The ground-floor double and downstairs facilities add flexibility for anyone who would prefer to avoid stairs, and the enclosed garden and hot tub give everyone somewhere to relax. Bed linen, towels and heating are all included, so there is little to organise beyond who is cooking dinner.
