Two kilometres from Newborough

Ty Croes Farm Campsite is a family-run site near Newborough, in the south-west corner of Anglesey. It is about two kilometres from the village, its forest and its beach. Pitches are laid out on grass beside rows of vines, which is where the farm gets its other name.

Three fields, and one of them takes adults only

There are three separate grass camping areas, all with large pitches, and a new hardstanding area as well. The family field and the adults-only field are kept apart, so you can pick the one that suits you. Electric hook-ups are there for tents, motorhomes and caravans.

The facilities

There are three shower and toilet suites and they are free to use, with no charge for a shower. There is a dish-wash area with a sink, a freezer for your ice packs, and a lock-up for bicycles. The WiFi reaches across the whole site.

Newborough Forest and the squirrels

Newborough Forest is the reason most people come this way. The trails through the pines are flat and firm enough for a pushchair, and it is one of the best places in Wales to see red squirrels. Go early in the morning if you want to see them, before the car park fills.

The beach and the island

The forest opens onto Llanddwyn beach, with dunes behind it and the mountains of the mainland across the strait. At the far end is Llanddwyn Island, which you can walk out to when the tide allows. Check the tide before you set off, because the causeway covers.

Everyday things

Newborough village has a shop and a pub two kilometres up the road. Barbecues are allowed on the campsite and dry logs are sold at the gate for a small charge. There is an information point on site with brochures for what is on locally.

Good to know

What does a pitch cost? A small tent for two is £18 a night and a medium tent for four is £25. A large tent is £32. A caravan or motorhome up to 14 feet is £25, and over 14 feet it is £32. Prices are based on two adults and two children.

Is electricity extra? Yes, a 6-amp hook-up is £6 a night. Awnings are free.

Can I bring a dog? Yes, £2 each, on a lead and under control at all times.

What about extra people? Children aged 4 to 16 are £5 each and extra adults are £9.

Where can I see red squirrels? Newborough Forest, two kilometres away. Early morning is the time to go.

How do I book? Ring the number on this page between 8am and 8pm. A £30 deposit is taken on booking, with the balance due 14 days before you arrive.

Is it open in winter? No. The season runs from 22 March to 30 September.
