A base in the old market town

Wine Street threads through the medieval heart of Llantwit Major, so almost everything is on foot: the sixth-century church of St Illtud, the little galleries and delicatessens, and the steady rhythms of a working Welsh market town. The coastline is two and a half miles off, where Tresilian Bay guards its sea cave and the layered cliffs at Nash Point rise above twin lighthouses, a memorable morning’s walk in either direction. Cardiff is around forty minutes by road, or you can leave the car and take the train from the town’s own station for a day in the capital, while Cardiff Airport is a fifteen-minute hop should you be flying in or out.

The apartment lends itself to all kinds of stays.
