A modern timber lodge for two near Wrexham, with a private hot tub and countryside views
The View is a stylish, single-storey timber lodge set in open countryside on the eastern side of Wrexham, in the quiet border country of the Maelor. Light, contemporary and beautifully finished, it is designed for relaxation: an open-plan living space opens onto a decked garden with a private hot tub, a fire pit and a barbecue, all looking out across the fields. Peaceful and private, yet only a short drive from Wrexham town and the city of Chester, it makes an idyllic little bolthole for a couple wanting to unwind — and with two well-behaved dogs welcome, the whole family can come along.
Sleeping two in a double bedroom, with a sofa bed offering room for a third, it is perfectly suited to a romantic escape, a special-occasion treat or a restful few days in the country.
Inside the lodge
The heart of the lodge is a bright, open-plan living space beneath a vaulted ceiling, with a comfortable sitting area, a Smart TV and a well-equipped kitchen-diner running along one side. There is an electric oven and hob, a fridge, dishwasher, microwave and even an air fryer, along with a dining table that makes the most of the countryside views through the patio doors. The double bedroom is calm and restful, and there is a smart, modern shower room. WiFi and central heating are provided, and a cot is available for families with a little one.
Step outside and the garden is the real draw — a private hot tub on the decking, a fire pit for cooler evenings, a barbecue and garden furniture, all enclosed and framed by open fields.

Quiet countryside near town
The lodge sits in the gentle, low-lying country east of Wrexham, where quiet lanes wind between farms towards the River Dee and the little market towns of the Welsh border. It is wonderful walking and cycling country, and there is plenty within a short drive: the village of Holt with its riverside castle ruins and medieval bridge, the scenic National Hunt racecourse at Bangor-on-Dee, and the ancient yew trees of Overton, one of the Seven Wonders of Wales.
Wrexham town, a few miles to the west, has shops, the Tŷ Pawb market and arts venue and the football ground whose recent story has drawn visitors from around the world, with Erddig, a much-loved National Trust hall and gardens, on its southern edge. Over the border, the historic city of Chester — with its Roman walls, the Rows and the zoo — is within easy reach, while to the west the Clwydian hills and the castles and canals of Llangollen and Chirk offer plenty of days out. After all that, sinking into the hot tub under a big country sky is a fine way to end the day. There are more ideas on our Wrexham accommodation pages.
Good to know
The View is a single-storey lodge, though there are a few steps up to the entrance. The hot tub is ready for use throughout your stay, and the enclosed garden gives dogs a safe space to enjoy. Please note that fuel for the fire pit and barbecue is not included, so it is worth bringing your own if you would like to use them. With everything on one level and the countryside on the doorstep, it is a genuinely restful place to switch off.
