Conwy and the Estuary

You are a short run down the hill from the walled town. Conwy Castle and the complete circuit of the town walls are the obvious draw, and below them the quay has the fishing boats, the mussel sheds and the Smallest House in Great Britain. Plas Mawr, the best-preserved Elizabethan townhouse in Britain, sits on the High Street. Being up on the valley side rather than in the middle of it all means you get the town when you want it and quiet when you don’t — and you get that estuary view, which no hotel inside the walls can offer.

Bodnant Garden is about five miles away up the Conwy Valley, at its best for the laburnum arch in late May and for the colour in October.
