The Management Centre is Bangor University’s hotel and conference centre, set in an Edwardian building on its own grounds. There are 57 en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant and coffee shop, free parking and meeting rooms, and Bangor station is about ten minutes’ walk.

A university hotel, open to anyone

It is run by the university but it takes ordinary bookings, not just delegates — and that is the point of it. You get a four-star grading, free parking and a quiet site on the edge of the city, usually for less than a comparable hotel in the centre.

Rooms

57 en-suite bedrooms, in singles, twins, doubles and king executives, all carrying Visit Wales’s Business Class Gold standard. Every room has free Wi-Fi and a proper desk to work at. In the university holidays up to 750 student bedrooms come available as well, which is what makes it able to take a large conference.

Eating

There is a restaurant and a coffee shop on site with an in-house kitchen, running from breakfast and a light lunch through to private dining and evening meals.

Meetings

Meeting and conference rooms are let by the day and take up to 50 delegates, with the audio-visual kit to match. The events team can be reached on 01248 365912.

Bangor and the Menai Strait

Bangor Cathedral has stood on its site since the sixth century, which makes it one of the oldest in Britain, and the pier runs 1,500 feet out into the Menai Strait towards Anglesey. Telford’s suspension bridge of 1826 is ten minutes west, and Stephenson’s Britannia Bridge beside it. Penrhyn Castle, the vast nineteenth-century pile the slate trade paid for, is on the edge of the city, and Eryri starts fifteen minutes south.
