Things to do nearby
Newport is one of the most appealing little towns on the Welsh coast — a cluster of colour-washed houses below the heather-clad slopes of Carningli, with a Norman castle, good galleries and some excellent places to eat. From the cottage you can walk down to the tidal estuary at the Parrog or out to the long sandy beach of Newport Sands, both part of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Inland, the ancient Preseli Hills, the Pentre Ifan burial chamber and Castell Henllys Iron Age fort make great days out, while nearby Cardigan is the gateway to dolphin-watching trips on Cardigan Bay.
Who it suits
With three bedrooms and a games room, Morawel suits families who want plenty to keep children entertained and the convenience of a town-centre base. Being able to walk to the shop, the pub, the estuary and the beach means you can leave the car parked for much of the stay.
Good to know
The external games room is a real winner with families, especially on a wet afternoon, and the two-level garden gives children room to play. Having the shop and pub barely a couple of minutes’ walk away, and the coast within half a mile, makes this an unusually easy, car-light base. Please note the cottage does not accept pets.
