On Cathedral Road, beside the park
Cathedral Road is a conservation area of tall Victorian houses running north from the river, and it is the traditional guest-house street of Cardiff. Sophia Gardens and Bute Park are two minutes away on foot, and the castle and the Principality Stadium about fifteen.

Cardiff from Cathedral Road
Bute Park runs from the back of the castle right up the Taff, 130 acres of it, and Cathedral Road sits along one edge. Sophia Gardens is where Glamorgan play their cricket and Test matches are held. Walk the other way and you are at the castle in a quarter of an hour, with the Victorian arcades and the covered market beyond it. Llandaff Cathedral, which gives the road its name, is a mile north.
