A Dog-Friendly Cottage on the Doorstep of Cwmcarn Forest
Cwmcarn Cottage is a traditional stone terraced cottage in Crosskeys, near Newport, set right on the doorstep of Cwmcarn Forest Drive and Sirhowy Country Park — a brilliant base for an active family break in the South Wales valleys. Dog-friendly and sleeping up to five across three bedrooms, with a woodburner, a separate dining room and front and rear gardens, it is perfectly placed for walking, mountain biking and exploring the rolling, wooded hills this area is famous for. Little wonder it has been voted a Customers’ Choice cottage two years running.
Traditional, Comfortable Living
The ground floor has a welcoming living room with a stone-set woodburner — just the place to relax after a day in the hills — along with a separate dining room and a well-equipped kitchen with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher. There is also a handy ground-floor shower room. Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and the initial fuel for the wood burner are all included, with a Freeview Smart TV in the living room and a travel cot for little ones.
Three Bedrooms
Upstairs there are three bedrooms sleeping up to five — a king-size room with its own Freeview Smart TV, a twin, and a single — all comfortably furnished. With a ground-floor shower room as well, the layout works nicely for families.
Made for Dogs and the Outdoors
This is a genuinely dog-friendly cottage: up to two dogs stay free, and there is even an outdoor dog shower for washing off muddy paws after a forest walk. Outside there is a lawned front garden and an enclosed rear garden with a sitting-out area and garden furniture, plus a children’s play area. There is private parking for one car, with additional on-road parking, and the cottage is no-smoking throughout.
