Camping in the middle of Cardiff

Cardiff Caravan & Camping Park sits in parkland at Pontcanna Fields, and the city centre is a walk away along the river. It is run by Cardiff Council and it is open all year round, which almost nothing else in South Wales is. For a match, a concert or a weekend in the city, you can leave the car on the pitch.

What it costs

A pitch is £32 a night without electric and £39 with a hook-up. On bank holidays and event weekends those go to £40 and £46. A week is £192 or £234. The price covers two adults, or two adults and two children, with one towing vehicle. Extra adults are £10.50, children £4.50 and extra vehicles £10.50, and any extra vehicle or tent must be declared and paid for when you arrive.

On site

There are toilets, a shower block, accessible facilities, a laundry and Wi-Fi around reception. Pedal Power hire bikes from the site, including adapted bikes, which is the quickest way into town and straight onto the Taff Trail.

What you can walk to

Bute Park starts at the edge of the fields and runs right up to Cardiff Castle, so you reach the castle without crossing a main road. The Principality Stadium is a few minutes further on. The National Museum in Cathays Park is free to go into and holds one of the best Impressionist collections outside London, left to the nation by the Davies sisters of Llandinam.
