A single-storey cottage moments from Benllech beach

Bwthyn yr Hafod is a welcoming, single-storey holiday cottage in the heart of Benllech, on the popular east coast of Anglesey. Sleeping five across three bedrooms and set just a short stroll from the sand, it makes an easy, comfortable base for a family seaside holiday — everything on one level, the beach within a ten-minute walk, and the village shops, cafés and pub almost on the doorstep.

Inside the cottage

The three bedrooms are made up as one double, one twin and one single, giving flexible sleeping for a family or small group, served by a bathroom with a bath, shower and basin. The open-plan living area is warmed by a woodburning stove for cooler evenings, and the kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. There is a washing machine and oil-fired central heating, and a cot and highchair can be provided on request, making it practical for families with little ones.

Outside and practical details

Outdoors there is an enclosed garden with patio areas and furniture — handy and secure for children — plus ample off-road parking. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included. The cottage is non-smoking and, as a ground-floor property, it suits guests who would rather avoid stairs. Please note it does not accept pets. Recent guests have given it a top five-star rating, praising the welcome and the location.

Benllech and the Anglesey coast

Benllech is one of Anglesey’s favourite resort villages, known for its wide, gently shelving Blue Flag beach of golden sand — ideal for families and a short walk from the cottage. The village has a good range of shops, cafés and places to eat, and the Anglesey Coastal Path runs along the shore in both directions. A little to the south lies the broad expanse of Red Wharf Bay, with its famous waterside pubs, while the historic castle town of Beaumaris, the beaches of the north coast and the lighthouse at Point Lynas are all within easy reach. For more ideas on where to stay, see our guide to accommodation in Benllech.

Days out from the cottage

Anglesey is made for relaxed days out. Beyond Benllech’s beach, you can walk sections of the 130-mile Anglesey Coastal Path, visit the medieval castle and Georgian streets of Beaumaris, or head north-west to the spectacular sea cliffs, lighthouse and seabird colonies at South Stack near Holyhead. Families enjoy the Anglesey Sea Zoo, Pili Palas nature centre and the tidal island of Llanddwyn at Newborough. The famous village with Britain’s longest name, Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, and the National Trust mansion at Plas Newydd are a short drive away, and the bridges across the Menai Strait put Caernarfon Castle and the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia) within easy reach.
