On the Gwyrfai, under Yr Wyddfa
Bryn Gloch Caravan & Camping Park sits at Betws Garmon, on the banks of the river Gwyrfai, between Caernarfon and Beddgelert. The Roberts family have run it since 1981. It holds an AA four-gold-star rating, a Visit Wales four-star rating and Premier Park status for 2026, and Google reviewers give it 4.6 out of 5 from 755 reviews.
The pitches
There are five kinds. Grass non-electric takes tents only. Grass electric and fully serviced grass take caravans, motorhomes, campervans, tents and trailer tents. Hardstanding electric and fully serviced hardstanding take caravans, motorhomes and campervans. Hook-ups are 10 amp, so bring camping appliances rather than a household kettle, and your own mains cable.
What is on the park
Heated bathrooms, an accessible shower and toilet, a family bathroom with baby changing, a laundrette and a dishwashing room. There is a games room, a TV room, two playgrounds, a football field and picnic areas. The shop sells milk, bread, eggs, tinned food, dog food, toiletries, basic camping bits and Calor Gas. WiFi is free and you collect the code from reception.
Dogs, fires and cars
Two dogs per unit, £4 a night each when camping, on a lead, with a dog walking area and dog washes on site. Fire pits are fine as long as they are raised off the ground. One car per pitch, with a £10 charge for a second. Ball games happen in Field 3 only, and nobody drives between 11pm and 7am. There is no electric vehicle charging anywhere on the park, on their pitches or at their accommodation, because of the fire risk.
Walking from the gate
The Snowdon Ranger Path starts at Llyn Cwellyn, a couple of miles up the road, and it is the oldest of the six main routes to the summit of Yr Wyddfa. Mynydd Mawr, Moel Cynghorion and Moel Hebog all rise around the valley. Beddgelert is south, Llanberis and Dolbadarn Castle are north-east, and Caernarfon and its castle are about six miles down the road. Listen out for the Welsh Highland Railway steam trains, which run through the valley.
