Bryn Derw is wonderfully placed for the coast and the mountains. The seaside town of Barmouth, with its long sandy beach, harbour and the famous railway bridge across the estuary, is close by. The Mawddach Trail follows the estuary inland towards Dolgellau — a beautiful, level route for walking and cycling — and the peaks of Cadair Idris rise just to the south.
