A welcoming lakeside timber lodge for four near Llanelli, with fishing on the doorstep
Ash Lodge is a cosy timber lodge set in a peaceful corner of the Carmarthenshire countryside at Garn-ffrwd, between Kidwelly and Trimsaran and a short drive north of Llanelli. Its great draw is its setting: the lodge looks out over its own coarse-fishing lake, with a private deck where you can sit with a coffee and watch the water, or cast a line for the afternoon. Warm and characterful inside, with pine-clad walls and an electric fire, it makes a genuinely relaxing base for a couple or a small family — and with two dogs welcome, the whole family can come along.
Sleeping up to four across two bedrooms, it suits anglers, walkers and families looking for a quiet, nature-filled base within easy reach of the coast.
Inside the lodge
The lodge has a comfortable open-plan living space, with a sitting area gathered around an electric fire, a Smart TV and lovely views out over the lake, plus a dining table by the window and a well-equipped kitchen with an oven and hob, microwave and fridge. There are two bedrooms — a double and a twin — and a shower room with a walk-in shower. WiFi, heating, bed linen and towels are all included, and a travel cot and highchair are available for families with little ones.
Outside, the private decking with garden furniture is the perfect spot to make the most of the lakeside setting, whatever the time of day.

Fishing, coast and countryside
This quiet corner of Carmarthenshire is all about slowing down. The on-site lake offers relaxed coarse fishing just steps from the door, and the surrounding lanes and footpaths are lovely for gentle walks. Yet the coast is close at hand: the medieval town of Kidwelly, with its magnificent castle and estuary, is only a few miles away, and just beyond lies Pembrey, where Cefn Sidan offers eight miles of golden Blue Flag sand backed by the forests and activities of Pembrey Country Park.
Llanelli, with its Millennium Coastal Park, wetland centre and Machynys golf, is a short drive south, while the market town of Carmarthen, the National Botanic Garden of Wales and the beaches of the Gower Peninsula are all within easy reach for day trips. It is an easy, unhurried base that combines peaceful countryside with the Carmarthenshire coast. You will find more ideas on our Carmarthenshire accommodation pages.
