A mile from Llantwit Major and the sea

Acorn Camping & Caravan Park is a small family-owned site on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, about a mile from Llantwit Major and a mile from the beach. It covers four and a half acres, surrounded by farmland, and it is quiet by design rather than by accident.

Pitches

There are 78 pitches taking touring caravans, motorhomes and tents, including eight all-weather gravel hardstandings for caravans and motorhomes. Rates change between high and low season and are on the park’s own tariff page.

Shepherd huts and lodges

If you would rather not bring anything to sleep in, Acorn has shepherd huts for glamping, plus Acorn Lodge and The Nest. The huts can be booked through the website or by ringing the park.

On site

The Acorn Café serves hot food seven days a week from 9am to 3pm, with last food orders at 2.30pm. There is a small shop stocked with camping essentials, snacks, drinks and ice creams, and a children’s play park.

Llantwit Major

The town has one of the oldest Christian sites in Britain at St Illtud’s Church, where a monastery school taught from the sixth century. The stones inside it are carved Celtic crosses, some over a thousand years old, kept indoors out of the weather. The beach below the town is shingle and rock pools at the foot of striped grey cliffs, and the coast path runs both ways from the car park.
