Nestled on the southern edge of the Snowdonia National Park, The Firecat Country House is a converted 15th-century farmhouse offering luxury B&B accommodation to discerning guests. With three beautifully appointed guest rooms, The Firecat makes a superb base for exploring the whole of the National Park, and the wider area.
There are three guest bedrooms at The Firecat, all with spacious en-suites featuring walk-in showers. The Granary guest room can be arranged as a twin-bedded room or as a double room, by prior arrangement, whilst the Battle View and The Firecat rooms both offer large doubles, with The Firecat room containing a stunning four-poster bed. Battle View offers incredible views over the River Dyfi and down into the valley.
All rooms are tastefully decorated, with elegant furnishings, Persian rugs and stylish lighting. All of the en-suite bathrooms feature huge, walk-in showers and period-style fittings. The whole property benefits from superfast fibre WiFi, and there is a TV in each guest bedroom, with a DVD player and a satellite box.
The Firecat offers both breakfasts and evening meals, all cooked on the Aga using the very best locally-sourced ingredients. Log burners in the dining room and the sitting room ensure that a cosy welcome is always available after a day spent out and about discovering Snowdonias many charms.
Snowdonia holds a special place in the hearts of many visitors to Wales, and its easy to see why, as the region offers so much to see and do. Of course, Mount Snowdon itself is the big draw, but there are so many other stunning peaks to explore, along with lakes, bustling towns and historic sites.
Outdoor enthusiasts will be keen to try out the Red Bull Hardline mountain biking trail at Dinas Mawddwy, just down the road, along with trails at Aberangell Forestry and throughout the National Park. Walkers, on the other hand, are spoiled for choice, with an ascent of Snowdon being just one option - easier hikes include a circular walk at Aber Falls or a forest walk from Betws-y-coed.
Other attractions that are close to The Firecat include Meirion Mill, at Dinas Mawddwy, and Corris Mine Explorers and Craft Centre, near to Machynlleth. The busy market town of Machynlleth itself is well worth a visit, and the nearby Centre for Alternative Technology and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) both make excellent days out. Further afield, adventure fans will enjoy both Zip World and Surf Snowdonia, whilst beach lovers will be charmed by Borth, Barmouth or Aberdyfi. The awe-inspiring castles of Harlech, Conwy and Caernarfon are all within easy reach, and all offer an incredible step back in time and an informative and enjoyable visitor experience.
Whether youre visiting Snowdonia for a weekend break, or youre planning a longer holiday that takes in many more of the regions attractions, The Firecat is perfectly located. With spacious and luxurious rooms, a cosy communal sitting room, and home-cooked meals that are always very well received, The Firecat always leaves a lasting impression on guests, who often return time and again.
