Sŵn Festival Cardiff 2026

Sŵn Festival returns to Cardiff on 15, 16 and 17 October 2026 — three nights of live music spread across venues throughout the city centre. One of Wales’s most distinctive music festivals, Sŵn (the Welsh word for sound) has been championing emerging and alternative artists since 2007, and has helped launch the careers of some of the most exciting acts to emerge from Wales and beyond.

Unlike a field festival, Sŵn is a proper city-wide event. Wristbands give access to dozens of performances across pubs, clubs and arts venues in Cardiff’s city centre, with sets running across multiple stages simultaneously. The format rewards discovery — it’s the kind of festival where you catch an act you’ve never heard of in a 200-capacity venue and walk away a lifelong fan.

The 2026 line-up spans indie, electronic, folk, hip-hop and everything in between, with a strong emphasis on Welsh-language music and emerging talent from across the UK. Previous editions have featured early appearances from artists who went on to headline major festivals — Sŵn has an enviable track record for spotting what’s next.

Cardiff has an excellent range of accommodation options to suit every budget, from boutique city-centre hotels to well-placed B&Bs and self-catering apartments. The festival’s venues are all within easy walking distance of the city’s main train station, making Cardiff a straightforward trip from anywhere in Wales or across the border.
