Swansea Bay 10k 2026

The Swansea Bay 10k returns on Sunday 20 September 2026 for its 45th edition — one of the longest-running road races in Wales, and one of the most scenic. The course follows the iconic sweep of Swansea Bay, taking runners along the seafront promenade with views across the bay to the Gower Peninsula. The flat, fast route makes it popular with runners chasing personal bests, while the open seaside setting makes it an equally enjoyable spectator event.

The race typically attracts several thousand runners of all abilities, from competitive club athletes to first-timers tackling their first 10-kilometre event. The seafront atmosphere on race day — with supporters lining the promenade, sea air, and the backdrop of the bay — gives it a character quite different from city-centre races. A post-race festival area with refreshments and entertainment follows the finish.

Swansea Bay is one of the great assets of Wales’s second city — a two-mile arc of sand stretching from the Mumbles headland in the west to the Swansea marina in the east. Beyond the bay, the city has invested significantly in its waterfront over recent years, with the LC leisure complex, the Dylan Thomas Centre, and a growing food and drink quarter making it a rewarding destination in its own right.

Swansea makes an excellent base for a September weekend in South Wales. The Gower Peninsula — Britain’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty — is on the doorstep, with beaches, coastal walks and country pubs all within easy reach. Accommodation ranges from seafront hotels and guesthouses to self-catering cottages across Gower.
