Aberystwyth Comedy Festival 2026

The Aberystwyth Comedy Festival runs from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 October 2026, bringing three days of stand-up, sketch and character comedy to venues across the town. Organised by the same team behind the Little Wander festival group, it’s an intimate, well-curated event that feels genuinely rooted in the town rather than just passing through it.

Aberystwyth is an excellent setting for a comedy festival — the town has a strong arts culture, a lively student scene from the university, and a compact centre that makes getting between venues easy. Shows range from established circuit names through to newer acts making a name for themselves, with the programme typically mixing accessible mainstream comedy with more alternative fare.

As well as the ticketed shows, the festival has a presence in the town’s pubs and bars across the weekend, with some events open to all. It’s a good excuse to spend an autumn weekend in mid Wales — the coast and the Ceredigion countryside are at their best in early October, when the summer crowds have gone and the light turns golden.

Aberystwyth has a reasonable range of accommodation including seafront hotels, town-centre B&Bs, and self-catering cottages within easy reach of the centre. As with most festival weekends, booking early is advisable — the town fills quickly whenever there’s something worth coming for.
