The town has been widely redeveloped after the mining industry declined and features a theatre, contemporary shopping centres, and a beautiful Millennium Coastal Cycle Path. The Millennium Coastal Cycle Path covers 22 kilometres of coastline on the northern shore of Loughor Estuary and offers a unique selection of leisure facilities, wildlife habitats, and tourist attractions. It is the perfect place for gentle exercise, leisure pastimes, and relaxation.

The park has a wetlands area, a traffic free cycle ways, and a watersports centre. Another popular attraction is Parc y Scarlets, the home of the Llanelli Rugby Club. The stadium has a top-notch training barn, training pitch, and conference and events facilities. Visit the WWT National Wetland Centre in Wales and discover rare wildlife. The centre covers over 450 acres on the Burry inlet and features pools, lagoons, and lakes. It is home to geese, ducks, flamingos, swans, and wild species like little egrets and dragonflies.
