Anglesey is a firm favourite with holidaymakers from around the UK, and beyond, and its so easy to see why. The island combines beautiful, sandy beaches with stunning countryside and cheerful, bustling towns and villages. It is steeped in history, with a whole host of sights to discover.
Beaches on Anglesey are plentiful, with a real mix of long, sandy shores and smaller, more intimate coves and sheltered bays. For family fun, head to Benllech or Red Wharf Bay, and for something close to Deri Fawr, Traeth Lligwy, near Moelfre, is said to be one of the best beaches on the whole of Anglesey. The closest beach to Deri Fawr is Dulas, an estuarine lagoon, where visitors can spot seabirds and admire the shipwrecks on the beach.
Anglesey has so much to offer holidaymakers, with historic sites like Beaumaris Castle, Plas Newydd and Bryn Celli Ddu megalithic burial chamber to explore. A visit to Amlwch and Amlwch Port is well worthwhile, to take in the charming harbour and the mesmerising landscape of Parys Mountain. The small market towns of Llangefni, Menai Bridge and Holyhead all make for enjoyable days out.
Everyone enjoys a meal out on holiday, even on a self-catering holiday, and guests at Deri Fawr have plenty of choices nearby. The Pilot Boat Inn, at nearby Dulas, offers simple, home-cooked pub food, and there are plenty of choices of cafes, restaurants, and pubs at both Moelfre and Benllech. From fish and chips, with an ice-cream to follow, to a more up-market experience in an elegant setting, Anglesey has something for everyone.
