This coastal market town has been popular with tourists since the turn of the century, indeed the weekly market is still held each Wednesday in the centre of town. Tourist accommodation is of the very finest standard and bed and breakfasts and hotels compete with self-catering cottages, caravan parks, holiday lodges, and campsites for your custom. The town can now boast one of the very best marinas in Wales with more than 400 berths and space for visiting craft to moor.
The Marina has been a great attraction welcoming new and old yachts and tourists to the town. For beach holidays, the town has two, the south beach has won a blue flag award for outstanding water quality, and the beach stretches across the promenade from Gimblet rock towards the small village of Llanbedrog. Glan y Mor beach is near the harbour where at low tide it can be a little muddy but a little further on the sand is much better and the beach runs for about three miles towards Pen y Chain headland and the Heaven Holiday park. Pwllheli is a great base for a fun-filled holiday or short break.
