Originally built in the grounds of a Norman Motte and Bailey castle, Mortimer House now forms part of the high street with the castle remains directly behind, in their own grounds giving excellent views from the rear elevation. The grounds have a small playground for younger children and a large area to explore and perhaps have a picnic on a sunny day, the tennis courts are also next to the castle grounds. No. 1 has 2 main bedrooms, one is a King size and the other can be set up as a Super king size or twin triple with a put up bed. No. 2 has 2 main bedrooms, one a king and the other a double, a put up bed can be added to convert this to a family room. No. 3 is a studio apartment with a double bed, it also has a sofa bed if needed for small children.
The town of Crickhowell lies along the banks of the River Usk and is in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park; it is often referred to as the glittering jewel of the vale and these days is a vibrant town with small, friendly, individual family owned shops providing not only daily essentials but interesting shops for browsing, often displaying work produced by local artisans. Just a short stroll around the town and you will see that Crickhowell has many excellent places to eat out or just have a drink and enjoy the atmosphere.
