These two superbly comfortable self catering properties are set high above the meandering River Wye and overlooking the ancient Royal Forest of Dean. Both The Old School and Capel Pentwyn are found in centre of the small Welsh village of Penallt.
The properties have been crafted out of the village chapel and the adjacent local school house. Both include en-suite facilities and sleep 6 and 5 respectively, the properties can be let separately or together for larger groups.
The properties are equipped with all the luxuries of modern living, fully fitted kitchens, bedrooms and 'en-suite' bathrooms, TVs and telephones. All bed linen and towels are included.
The Old School - Sleeps 6
A warm welcome awaits you at this luxurious 4 star holiday/business self catering property. This stylishly property has been converted from a 19th century village school in the heart of the lower Wye Valley offering fully furnished accommodation with 3 double bedrooms. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
The original school room with a tall gabled ceiling and stone and polished timber floors forms a superb single open living area with lounge, dining area and kitchen. Although centrally heated there is also a Victorian wood burning stove set in the original slate hearth with a limitless supply of logs.
The three en-suite spacious double bedrooms are situated on the ground and first floors. The master bedroom on the ground floor opens out onto a large paved patio overlooking the stunning Wye Valley. To the rear of the premises there is sufficient parking for 4 cars including double garage and gardens.
Capel Pentwyn - Sleeps 5
This late Victorian chapel has been converted into a 5 star luxury three bedroom self-catering holiday house. Built in 1869 at the peak of the Arts and Crafts period, this beautiful building has been carefully converted by local architects to mirror the style of that period.
The open plan oak kitchen though traditional in style has all the provisions for a luxurious stay as do the bedrooms and bathrooms. Televisions and telephones are provided in every room. A fully equipped utility room is available for those who need to do some washing and ironing. The spacious lounge area has oriental rugs and period tapestries and an antique wood burning stove. Capel Pentwyn has been designed to accommodate guests with disabilities. There is a downstairs single study bedroom with a 'wheel-in' shower and bathroom. The whole ground floor and garden is wheelchair friendly.
There is parking available for 3 cars, but for guests who want to put their car under cover or a secure lockup for their cycles; there is access to these facilities in the adjacent Old School property.
The Old School and Capel Pentwyn are both available for holiday or business rental all year round where guests are personally greeted by the owner on arrival who explains where everything is and how it works and provides advice on local amenities. There are fresh flowers and a welcoming pot of tea and biscuits to help you get settled in. A luxury breakfast hamper is available upon request if you have a late arrival.
Both these Wye Valley self catering properties have been careful designed to ensure they meet the highest environmental standards both inside and out.
