Great House Bed and Breakfast - Newport
Great House is a beautiful, grade II listed 16th Century stone house in the very peaceful surroundings of the old village of Caerleon.
The owner Dinah Price has been providing bed and breakfast at Great House for 25 years. A quick look at the visitors book shows plenty of praise for the delightful interior, warm welcome and cracking breakfast. One businessman stayed for 4 years!
The accommodation includes two twin rooms and a single room. Each room has a remote controlled colour TV, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. Each room has its own hand basin. There is a very nice bathroom with bath and shower.
Dinahs enthusiasm for interiors, antiques and gardening make it a particularly delightful place to stay. The house has many original features such as an inglenook fireplace with bread oven and wood burner, with beams throughout.
Dinah has extensive knowledge of the local area and is always happy to point people in the direction of pubs with good quality food, pretty villages, antique markets and areas of picturesque beauty.
The attractive garden fronts the banks of the River Usk. Dinah is a very keen gardener and during the summer you will see a variety of stunning plants and in particular many different types of clematis.
Great House is ideally located for golfers, being only one mile away from the Celtic Manor Resort (host for the 2010 Ryder Cup). Cardiff and the Millennium Stadium are situated just twelve miles away. For walkers, Great House is an ideal place to start the Usk Valley Walk.
