Mike & Pearl Downie are your hosts at Forge Cottage Bed and Breakfast Gower. Forge Cottage is in the small village of Llanmadoc and has superb coastal views. The Bed and Breakfast is about 250 years old, so has some history! The accommodation has recently been refurbished to a very high quality and has been awarded 4 stars by Visit Wales.
The B and B accommodation consists of just two en-suite bedrooms, so your personal attention is guaranteed.
There is one double room and the other room has a single and a double bed so can be used as a double, twin, single or small family room. Both rooms are centrally heated, have beverage trays and colour TV. WIFI facilities are available at a nominal cost.
Breakfasts on sunny mornings can be taken on the outside decked area, overlooking the Burry Inlet. What a view at high tides! Packed lunches for your days out can also be provided.
Drying facilities and secure storage for bikes etc. are available.
Llanmadoc was chosen as the "Calor Village of the Year" in 2009 and the village boasts a traditional village shop and post office. Home produce is supplied from villagers and volunteers on a daily basis.
The local walks and quiet sprawling beaches are within easy access of Forge Cottage. Whitford Burrows offer an abundance of flora and fauna.
Forge Cottage is an ideal B and B throughout the year for birdwatching. There is a village pub within easy walking distance that provides food and drink - eliminating the driving factor.
The Gower peninsula itself was Britain's first 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' and offers almost everything in a small area that the visitor may require, while also being an ideal base to explore West Wales, the Brecon Beacons and the Welsh Valleys.
Swansea City is only 30 minutes drive away. Local activities include walking, swimming, beach & rock fishing, surfing, pony trekking, hand gliding and numerous golf courses.
Llanmadoc itself sits under Llanmadoc hill, a hill of historic interest giving breathtaking views of the Gower in all directions. It is also bounded by Whitford Bay nature reserve, Camarthen Bay and the Burry inlet. It and its neighbouring village, Cheriton, have two ancient churches - Llanmadoc being 13th century and Cheriton 14th century.
