Gwerniago campsite is located near Machynlleth in the beautiful Dyfi Valley the southern part of The Snowdonia National Park and the heartland of rural Wales.
Gwerniago is a working farm run by a Welsh speaking family. The campsite is situated just outside the village of Pennal
The area around the farm is ideally suited for bird watching and walking. Some of our regular visitors are the Red Kite. With good binoculars it is possible to view the Dyfi Ospreys nest from the campsite. The campsite is popular with walkers and cyclists; the site offers elevated views over the Dyfi Valley, woodlands, and riverside walks.
Pony rides for the younger children can be arranged around the campsite in the evening, weather permiting.
If you are familiar with the Cool Camping series of books the campsite was voted in the top 5 campsite in the U K by the kids in the kids edition of the book.
There are several sporting activities within easy reach of the campsite including sea or fresh water fishing, clay pigeon shooting, mountain bike Centre, boarding centre, kite surfing hire and tuition, swimming pool and leisure centre.
The local area also caters for less energetic activities with its miles of golden beaches, historical attractions, country walks and endless supplies of peace and quiet.

The farm is situated 3 miles from Machynlleth, an historic market town; where the mountain biking routes of Mach1, 2 &3 are situated.
Aberdyfi renowned for its famous golf course, harbour and beaches is 15 minutes drive away. Pennal village is within easy walking distance, the village offers a local shop, pub and Post Office.
The Centre of Alternative Technology is 4 miles away, Corris Craft Centre and King Arthur's Labyrinth 7 miles.
Talyllyn Railway is a 20 minute drive towards Tywyn and Cadair Idris mountain a 20 minute drive towards Dolgellau.
Directions
Situated 3 miles from Machynlleth on the Aberdyfi road. If travelling from Birmingham, Shrewsbury, Welshpool, Newtown turn right by the clock at Machynlleth then turn immediately left after going over Dyfi Bridge, follow the road for 2 miles, turn left by the camping sign and then the first right onto the farm entrance. All enquires and booking in at the farmhouse.
The campsite is open from 1st March to 31st October
