Garn Gron is in a hamlet in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and lies between Goodwick and Strumble Head. It is a great place for birdwatchers, walkers and those who want simply to explore the beauty of North Pembrokeshire. The area is known for its peace, yet it does not feel isolated. A short walk on a grass path leads to the bus route between Fishguard and Strumble Head, while a walk in the other direction takes you to the coast path.
The nearest shops, pubs and restaurants are at Goodwick (just over a mile) with a greater range at Fishguard (3 miles). St David's with its cathedral and galleries, the sandy beaches of Whitesands Bay and Traeth Llyfn and many places of historic interest are within easy reach by car.
THE HOUSE
Garn Gron was renovated in2009 as a holiday home with all the things that we think are important for a stay in such a beautiful place. The house is reached up a surfaced bridleway and there is room for several cars in the driveway. Two shallow steps lead to the front door, with all rooms on the same level. Access to most of the garden is via concrete paths and there is a small pond and waterfall which you may feel make the property unsuitable for small but mobile children.
ENTRANCE HALL with room for coats, boots and drying a dog.
INNER HALL with phone for emergencies and local calls.
KITCHEN with great views as well as electric cooker, dishwasher, washer/dryer, freezer, fridge and a DINING AREA.
SITTING ROOM with fabulous views towards Strumble Head and over the sea towards Ireland and the Lleyn peninsular. In summer you can watch glorious sunsets and in winter light the stove (one basket of logs provided) and play one of the many games supplied or choose a book to read. There is a CD player and radio but no TV - this is a place to get away from it all!
BEDROOMS Two carpeted double bedrooms, one with a double bed and one twin bedded. Both have plenty of storage. A cot is available if required.
BATHROOM with shower over the bath, wash basin and WC.
Heating is by LPG central heating, with the wood stove for extra comfort, solar panels heat the hot water. Electricity and LPG is included in the cost.
Outside there is a large GARDEN with room to play, a small pond and waterfall and plenty of places to sit and enjoy the peace, the views and the birdsong. There is a built in barbecue and several garden chairs are kept in the cycle store for you to use. Tomatoes grow in the greenhouse and we are experimenting with other crops in a vegetable garden - these are available for you to pick in season.
The garage has been turned into a GAMES ROOM with table tennis provided and a separate workshop has become a secure CYCLE STORE.
We have tried to use sustainable materials in our renovation - re-using where possible, reducing heat loss and using natural materials - e.g. organic fairly traded cotton sheets and wool carpets in the bedrooms. Eco-friendly cleaning materials are used and the rubbish separated appropriately.
