Belhaven House Hotel Milford Haven
Belhaven is a Georgian terraced property on the Milford Haven (UK) promenade where the flower gardens are so beautifully tended, overlooking the Marina and the stunning Waterway. To the rear (SA73 2HH) is the free secure carpark.
The hotel faces south over the River Cleddau and notwithstanding Chevron refinery being on the other side, a mile away, and oil tankers berthing at their jetties, at night the reflections of the lights of the plant and ships, make a magical sight. Bring your camera.
In the season you can see swans flying by, or V formations of wild duck, seals and bass by the yachts in the Marina,Tall Ships visit frequently, some for repair in the dry-dock. Powerboats streak by, some towing skiers, and clouds of spinnakers are seen when the Yacht Clubs have their weekly races. How golfers can concentrate on the 18 hole course with so much to distract them in their line of sight, and being on the western approach for London the sky is criss-crossed with con-trails which add to the awe-inspiring sunsets, a painters paradise. And passengers are ferried from Cruise Liners to shore to tour "Little England beyond Wales".
This former home of the Surgeon to the whaling fleet (1797)is now a comfortable hotel which almost enforces relaxation. We have modernised it where neccesary with free WiFi, gas central heating, lots of insulation,uPVC windows at the front against the winter winds ( 122 mph is the worst we have seen) but other wise left the character to be enjoyed, so there is no lift. But with the very shallow steps we find most people, even if their limbs are no longer very flexible, can make it to the 1st floor Residents Lounge, the biggest, best and most relaxing room in the building. There they can watch the river traffic through binoculars, read books from the extensive library, watch FreeSat TV, play draughts, chess, dominoes, Quest or Scrabble or just drop off.
