Newport Guesthouse &
Restaurant
Llys Meddyg B&B West Wales

Llys
Meddyg Guesthouse & Restaurant is situated in the sleepy town of Newport, a very special
place nestled under Carningli (Mountain of the Angels) on the Nevern
estuary and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The house itself
is Georgian grade 2 listed and one of the most prominent in Newport.
It was originally built in the mid-1800's as the Prince of Wales
Hotel, a coaching inn taking residents by coach to Haverfordwest
to meet the London train. At the turn of the century, the local
doctor lived in the house for many years, altering it and giving
it its current name "Llys Meddyg" (the Doctor's Court).
Post 2nd World War the Joy family ran a successful market garden
that many residents still remember and the remains of which still
give the beautiful garden its nostalgic air.
The house is beautifully decorated, tastefully modernised with most
of the original features intact. The onus is on comfort with beautiful
furnishings, antiques and deep sofas and a welcoming fire lit in
winter months. The grounds also house the Peter Daniels Gallery
and his originals adorn the walls of the main house.
The Owners, Louise Blair-Daniels and Edward Sykes and their staff ensure
the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming and strive to make their guests
feel at home whether they are eating in the restaurant or staying in
one of the guest rooms.
Llys Meddyg is a perfect base for walkers, birdwatchers and nature
lovers at any time of the year. Within short walking distance of Carningli
and the foothills of the Preseli Mountains where the bluestones of
Stonehenge were quarried and Red Kites can be seen and the Pembrokeshire
coastline, Britain's only coastal National Park, visitors are spoilt
by the beauty and natural diversity of the area.
Llys
Meddyg is a friendly and welcoming place to stay and a perfect base
whatever the nature of your visit to Newport. All rooms are large,
bright and comfortably furnished mainly with antiques and paintings
by Peter Daniels. Beds are comfortable with crisp linen and fluffy
towels. We offer twin and double rooms with either a bath or shower.
Breakfast is served in the beautiful dining room and we offer a
wide choice including our famous fresh fruit pancakes with yoghurt
and maple syrup. Food and its origin are important to us and the
produce we use is locally sourced and organic where possible. Holistic
treatments such as aromatherapy massage and reflexology can be arranged
locally.
