Chris and Sarah Smith welcome you to Highgate our lovely black-and-white farmhouse Bed and Breakfast is set in the rolling Mid Wales hills just outside Newtown Montgomeryshire. Our home is a 15th century listed building, and was once part of the Gregynog Estate. Lying east of the Cambrian Mountains in the old county of Montgomeryshire, three miles form Newtown on the Tregynon road.

Close to the source of River Severn, the area is rich in stunning landscape and is one of the most beautiful parts of Wales. This is land steeped in history and culture, a place where time has stood still. Here you will escape the crowds and be able to recharge your batteries. Revel in the clear country air, log fires and honest to goodness farmhouse fare. Highgate is an ideal base for visiting Offa's Dyke, Powis Castle, for walking, bird watching and touring the lakes and mountains. The coast and the more rugged scenery of Snowdonia National Park are only an hour's drive away. Newtown, three miles away, is most attractive, with its street market on Tuesdays, there is a swimming pool, sports centre and lively theatre, plus fishing and golf. Among the other small market towns nearby are Welshpool, Montgomery and Llanidloes, with their castles, gardens, galleries and quiet shops.

Our accommodation is of high quality and centrally heated through out. There are three double rooms, one of which can become a twin-bedded room if desired They are all large and can easily become family rooms by adding a third bed.
There is a single room All have fine views and en suite shower rooms, televisions and hospitality trays, and are very comfortable and tastefully furnished. Breakfast is served in the dining room, the food is traditional and plentiful, and includes home-made preserves and locally produced meat and eggs. Specialist diets can be catered for on request.

The dining room and drawing room are delightful overlooking the south facing lawns and gardens. Both are oak beamed and have log fires for cooler days.

 

Bookings may be made by email, telephone, fax or letter. Bookings are held for 5 days to allow time for the booking form and deposit to arrive.

A non-refundable deposit of the first nights accommodation is due with the booking form to confirm reservation.

If travelling from Craven Arms at roundabout take second left (straight over)
If travelling from Welshpool at roundabout take third left (3 O'clock)The Severn Bridge will be in front of you McDonalds behind you.Proceed over bridge and over three pedestrian crossings, passing the "Kingdom Hall" on your right.Turn Right at the "Y" junction in to Llanfair road, proceed, the Cottage Hospital will be on your left.Come out of Newtown, Highgate is 3 miles further, the road snakes several times.
