This Powys Accommodation, The Lion Hotel is situated in the heart of Mid Wales between Newtown and Welshpool in the small award winning village of Berriew. The Hotel has luxurious en-suite Guest Accommodation sympathetically decorated in a style in keeping with the Historical Inn and a choice of formal or informal dining in our intimate oak beamed restaurant or the more informal Bistro.
The Lion Hotels long standing reputation for fine food, luxury B&B accommodation, real ales and friendly welcoming service, indicates first class Powys accommodation and well worth the short detour off the main Newtown to Welshpool road. The Lion is overlooked by the magnificent St.Bueno's Church in the small Powys picturesque village of Berriew. The hotel is 17th Century, with exposed oak beams and sections of original wattle and daub.
Hotel Accommodation
Our well appointed en-suite guest rooms are decorated some in a traditional style and others with a more contemporary style each offer their own unique character.
Some of the rooms offer a view over the churchyard to the impressive St.Beuno's Church whilst others overlook the village to the wonderful mid Wales hills beyond.
For added refinement, our superior room is very spacious with king size bed, chaise lounge, luxury corner bath & shower and DVD entertainment system.
The family suite comprises a double room with bathroom and connecting single room with toilet and basin. Both rooms have flat screen TVs.
Wireless Broadband is available free of charge in the guest rooms and in the lounge bar.

We offer fine dining and a cosy friendly atmosphere in which to drink, eat and socialise in our hotel restaurants, open 7 days a week
Our elegant oak beamed restaurant offers a varied menu, including a range of specials, mainly fish, that changes depending on seasonality and availability, all accompanied by a fine selection of wines.
The Bistro restaurant offers a more relaxed dining experience, whist still offering the same high standards of cuisine.
We also offer a complete range of lunchtime meals including light snacks such as baguettes or alternatively order from our daytime lunch menu or daily lunchtime specials.

Our Lounge and Saloon bar offer a welcoming friendly atmosphere.
There is a wide selection of cask conditioned real Ales, lagers, wines, spirits and single malt whiskies to name a few.
Lunchtime snacks are available in both bars.
We use local produce wherever possible, including meat from our local award winning butcher.
All menus are subject to change and we can accommodate specific dietary requirements with advance notice.
